the broken fits. are a married, alternative folk duo from the Tennessee Valley. They began writing songs together in July 2017 and started performing in venues all over the southeast in August 2017. 

Their debut EP, see you shine: an EP, was recorded in April 2018 at The Sound Shelter in Franklin, TN 

the broken fits. songwriting is honest and painful, yet full of hope. They sing about their victories as well as their defeats. Their differing musical histories blend influences ranging from Say Anything and the Old 97’s, to Natalie Merchant and Edith Piaf. 

Their sound is a style of alternative folk that blends rich storytelling with a unique blend of emboldened vocals and kinetic musicianship. 

Steven has been a songwriter for 20 plus years 
He was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder in 2009. 
A nihilist with a sweet side reserved exclusively for his wife and dog. 

Amanda has been a visual artist for 25 years. 
She deals with severe anxiety and depression. 
She is forever an optimist, albeit kind of a sad one. 

They are mental health advocates and believe that an open dialogue can help to remove the stigma of mental illness, and quite possibly save a life.
